Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says the country will apply for EU membership if a second independence referendum is successful. Nicola Sturgeon’s choice on Scotland’s EU status comes after she announced that a second referendum on leaving the UK is inevitable. However, for an official referendum to go ahead, Scotland needs Westminster’s approval as it did back in 2014, when 55-percent of Scots voted to remain a part of the UK. But British Prime Minister, Theresa May, could delay any vote, stating that ‘now is not the time for another referendum’ – with the UK about to trigger the Brexit process.
